For many of us, Twitter is a fun part of modern life. It really is social networking for the masses. Far more accessible and far less work than the likes of Facebook, LinkedIn or even blogging, Twitter lets you spit out 140 characters or less updates. It also lets you glimpse into the lives of friends and strangers you choose to follow.

But can this aspect of a modernista’s life get out of control?

Here are 10 ways to know if you twitter too much…

  1. You have begun to speak and even think in 140 character or less spurts.
  2. When you are doing something fun or interesting, your first thought is, ‘I should tweet this’.
  3. When everything goes wrong, your first thought is, ‘I should tweet this’.
  4. When you have any thought at all you tweet it.
  5. You no longer google perspective dates, but search for them on twitter instead.
  6. You are registered with Qwitter and lose sleep when people stop following you.
  7. You make all your major life decisions by asking your twitter friends what they think.
  8. You find it completely beyond comprehension when people tell you they haven’t heard of twitter.
  9. You check twitter before you get out of bed in the morning.
  10. You remember what you were doing the day you hit 100 followers.

  1. I am guilty of 6 out of 10 of these. I have become hopelessly addicted to this new beacon of Information…I have now become Johnny Five from Short Circuit. Input, Input…need more input!!!!

  2. You Twitter too much when you get excited about reading another blog post about Twitter.

  3. I think I am guilty of Twittering too much. I’ve been in conversations with people and say, “Wait! I have to tweet that right now.” Good thing I have my cell phone handy in those situations. Of course, most of the time they don’t get it and think I’m crazy. Oh well! At least there are those who do.

    Love your list!

  4. GUILTY! lol

  5. Can’t I just tweet my comment?

  6. I think I am guilty of this… Just recently I have been so active in Twitter. It is so addictive that everyday my first thought is about twitter… :)

    lmao! thanks!

  8. Great post! I just signed up for quitter!

  9. perspective dates = “prospective” dates.

    Sorry. :)

  10. Phew, I’m only half as addicted as I thought I was!!

  11. Whew! As I started reading the list, I was enjoying the humor of it, until I found myself agreeing with each one. I was relieved to find that only the first four applied to me so far (did I say, “so far?”). Either way, funny, and oh so true!

  12. At what point, or how many of those do I have to check-off before I’m approved for some medical intervention? Nevermind, I’ll go ask my followers what they think… Oh man! It’s bad isn’t it?

  13. I knew I twittered too much when I started talking in third person. :)

  14. Another sure sign of Twitter over-use is if you have more than one Twitter account, or if you if you use more than one application to Tweet from, sometimes simultaneously.

  15. I think twitter strikes the core of our being…ok, don’t mean to be so dramatic–I think the Qwitter thing strikes the nerve of insecurity that 99% of the population exhibits.

  16. Hahahahaha I’m admitting to nothing!
